New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation for the 113th time through his popular radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday. During his address, he celebrated India’s achievements, such as the success of Chandrayaan-3 and the focus on space sector reforms. 

He also spoke about the growing interest of youth in politics and emphasised the importance of their participation for the nation’s future.

India moving towards becoming developed nation: PM Modi

PM Modi said that India is moving forward towards becoming a developed nation, and the foundation for this goal is getting stronger. He stated, “So many things are happening in 21st century India, which is strengthening the foundation of a developed India.”

The Prime Minister praised India’s recent accomplishments, including the success of Chandrayaan-3. He reminded the nation that August 23rd was celebrated as the first National Space Day. This day marks Chandrayaan-3’s historic landing on the moon’s south pole, a moment of great pride for the nation. PM Modi said that India is the first country to achieve this milestone.

What PM Modi said about involvement of youth in politics

One of the key topics of the 113th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ was the involvement of youth in politics. PM Modi said that during his speech from the Red Fort, he urged 1 lakh youth without any political background to enter the political system. 

He said, “The experience and enthusiasm of the youth in politics will be useful for the country.” He urged young people from non-political families to consider politics as a career, saying that family-based politics often suppresses fresh talent. 

PM Modi praised ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, which saw the national flag, the tricolour, flying across the country in homes, schools, universities, and even on desktops and mobile devices. 

He said, “This campaign has tied the whole country together and this is ‘Ek Bharat- Shreshtha Bharat’.” 

The Prime Minister shared an inspiring story from the village of Barekuri in Tinsukia, Assam. This village is home to the Moran community and the endangered Hoolock Gibbon, locally known as ‘Holo Bandar’. PM Modi praised the villagers for their deep connection with this rare species. 

PM Modi also mentioned how some youth from Arunachal Pradesh are using 3D printing technology to create replicas of animal horns and teeth. Their goal is to reduce the hunting of wild animals for these body parts. 

In another inspiring story, PM Modi shared the work of sanitation workers in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, who have turned garbage into art. Through their creativity, they have created artworks from waste, embodying the message of ‘waste to wealth’. 

What PM Modi said about children’s health

Addressing the nation’s concern for children’s health, the Prime Minister emphasised the importance of nutrition. He said that while India focuses on children’s nutrition throughout the year, a special emphasis is placed on it during September, which is celebrated as Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month) from September 1-30 every year. He reiterated that children’s nutrition remains a top priority for the country.

PM Modi also spoke about celebration of Raksha Bandhan on August 19, coinciding with World Sanskrit Day. He noted the continued love for Sanskrit both in India and abroad. Many countries are conducting research and experiments on this ancient language, keeping its rich heritage alive.
