Manish Pandey, a prominent right-hand Indian batter, has publicly expressed his wish to rejoin the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

As a native of Karnataka, Pandey’s aspiration is not only personal but also shared by many young cricketers from his home state.

Pandey, who also owns a century for Team India, featured for the Royal Challengers in two IPL seasons.

Pandey, who started his cricketing journey with Karnataka, revealed that he would love to be back to the Royal Challengers in the IPL.

“As a hometown boy, I would love to be back playing for RCB. Not just me, all the youngsters from Karnataka would love to play for RCB one day”. Manish Pandey told TV9 Kannada.

A look at Pandey’s IPL journey 

Pandey’s IPL career began in 2008 when he was first selected by Mumbai Indians (MI). His journey with RCB started a year later.

The Indian made history in the 2009 season by scoring an unbeaten 114 for RCB against Deccan Chargers. He had become the first Indian to score a century in the cash-rich league.

Pandey has also represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, and Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

Pandey has over 3,800 IPL runs

Experienced batter Pandey has been a consistent campaigner in IPL.

He can be useful with his ability to take down pacers with the new and old ball. He is a potent batter who can play the role of an accumulator and bind the innings together.

As of now, Pandey has amassed 3,850 runs across 171 matches at 29.16, slamming 22 fifties and a century.

Over 550 of his runs have come for the Royal Challengers.

Pandey starred in IPL 2014 final for KKR

In 2014, Pandey powered KKR to their second IPL title by scoring an incredible knock against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final. The Indian batter slammed a 50-ball 94 as KKR chased down a mammoth 200 in the final over.
