The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur, Kerala, Assam and Meghalaya on August 21. The weather agency has issued an orange alert for these states. At the same time, IMD scientist Soma Sen has said that rainfall in Delhi may reduce from August 21. Today Delhi and surrounding areas will remain generally cloudy and light rain may occur.

According to the IMD forecast, Himachal Pradesh may receive rain from August 21 to August 26. At the same time, there are chances of rain in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan till August 26. Talking about Uttar Pradesh, heavy rainfall has been predicted at different places till August 24.

The weather agency has also predicted rain in Madhya Pradesh till August 26. According to the IMD, Maharashtra is likely to receive rain between August 21-26, Chhattisgarh till August 24, Goa till August 26 and Gujarat between August 2-26.

Heavy rain in many districts including Jaipur of Rajasthan

Monsoon activity continues in Rajasthan where in the last 24 hours, heavy rain was recorded in many districts including the capital Jaipur. According to the Meteorological Center, Jaipur, in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Wednesday, rain accompanied by thunder occurred at some places in western Rajasthan and at some places in eastern Rajasthan. During this time, heavy rain occurred at some places in Jaipur, Dholpur and Jhalawar districts. The maximum rain of 85 mm was recorded in Jaipur tehsil. Apart from this, 78 mm rain was recorded in Rajakheda of Dholpur, 65 mm in Gangdhar of Jhalawar, 42 mm in Kushalgarh of Banswara and 30 mm in Bhopal Sagar of Chittorgarh.

Seven people died, two missing in landslide in Tripura

At least seven people, including three members of a family, were killed and two villagers went missing in landslides caused by incessant rains at three to four places in Tripura, a senior official said on Tuesday. Revenue department secretary Brijesh Pandey said five people were killed in South Tripura district, while one person each died in Gomati and Khowai districts. He said two missing cases were reported from Khowai and Gomati districts.

Heavy rains in the state since Sunday have led to waterlogging in many areas. Following the weather department’s warning of moderate to heavy rains, a red alert has been issued in South Tripura district while an orange alert has been issued in the remaining seven districts of the northeastern state, the official said.

Heavy rain in Delhi, waterlogging in many areas

Delhi remained cloudy on Tuesday and early morning rains caused waterlogging in many areas, leading to traffic jams. Along with this, the maximum temperature was 33.2 degrees Celsius, which was one degree below normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the humidity level ranged between 100 percent and 71 percent.

The weather department has predicted cloudy skies with light rain on Wednesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 33 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. According to the weather department, Delhi normally receives around 650 mm of rain during the entire monsoon.
