Wet Spell Likely Over Most Parts Of India During Next Five Days (File image)

New Delhi: Several parts of India are likely to witness rainfall during the next few days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a wet spell with thunderstorm activity is likely over most parts of the country during the next five days.
A Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation lies over south Pakistan and neighbourhoods in lower and middle levels. A cyclonic circulation lies over central Pakistan at lower levels. A trough or wind discontinuity runs from west Vidarbha to north Tamil Nadu in lower levels.
Due to the above weather phenomenon, rainfall is predicted over several parts of India. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning or gusty winds (40-50 kmph) is very likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during the next five days. Hailstorms are expected at isolated Chhattisgarh on April 30 and places over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha till April 29. Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Vidarbha on Friday.
Similar weather conditions are also predicted over south India. “Scattered/fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds (40-50 kmph) very likely over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe during next 5 days,” the MeT department said. Hailstorms are very likely at isolated places over Telangana on 27th April. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Kerala during the next five days, over north Interior Karnataka on Saturday and over south Interior Karnataka between April 29 and May 1. Rainfall is also predicted over Tamil Nadu on April 30 and May 1.
Meanwhile, light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are expected over east India during the next five days. Hailstorms are very likely at isolated places over Odisha on April 27, 28 and 30. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Odisha on April 28. Similar weather conditions are expected over northeast India. The weather agency said, “Heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya during 28th April-01st May and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on 29th April.”
Meanwhile, light/moderate scattered rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorm/lightning is very likely over the Western Himalayan Region and isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over the plains of northwest India during the next five days. “Hailstorm activity very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh on 27th; over Uttarakhand during 27th April-01st May; over Punjab and Haryana on 29th & 30th April. Heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 01st May,” the IMD said. Duststorm is very likely at isolated places over Rajasthan till April 30.
Meanwhile, light isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is predicted over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada and light isolated rainfall over Gujarat during the next five days.
Maximum temperatures are very likely to be below normal to near normal during the next few days. Meanwhile, no heatwave conditions are expected over any part of India during the next five days.
