Weather update: IMD predicts light rain for Delhi and Noida; orange alert issued for THESE 6 states – India News
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted generally cloudy skies and light rain accompanied by thunderstorms for Delhi today. However, there are no heavy rainfall alerts for Delhi-NCR on August 8 and 9. The region, including Noida, is under a yellow alert from August 10 to August 12. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 33°C and 25°C, respectively, with similar temperatures anticipated over the next five days.
Orange Alerts Issued for Multiple States
The IMD has issued an orange alert for several states, including Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. The agency predicts “very heavy” precipitation in Himachal Pradesh on August 10 and in Uttarakhand on August 8. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Jammu and Kashmir on August 10 and 11, in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan until August 13, in Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh until August 11, and in Punjab on August 10. Additionally, Haryana will experience heavy rainfall on August 8 and 10.
Widespread Rainfall Forecast for West and Central India
For West and Central India, the IMD’s August 7 press release indicates fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, over Konkan & Goa, Gujarat Region, and other areas until August 14. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is expected over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Saurashtra & Kutch.

Heavy Downpours Expected in South Peninsular India
In South Peninsular India, the IMD forecasts heavy downpours in Karnataka on August 8. IMD scientist Dharma Raju announced that light to moderate rainfall is likely in Telangana over the next three days, with a yellow alert issued for North Telangana and possible rainfall in East Telangana later today.
