Weather Update: IMD issues red alert for Karnataka; heavy rains expected in Northwest, Central and East India for next 4 days – India News
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather bulletin has forecast that isolated extremely heavy rainfall will occur in Tamil Nadu and Kerala on July 31. Moreover, the IMD in its press release has also warned that there will be widespread downpours along with isolated heavy rainfall over Northwest, Central, and East India during the next four days.
Red alert and Orange alert issued
A red alert for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for Coastal Karnataka and South interior Karnataka. On the other hand, an orange alert for heavy downpours has been issued for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puducherry, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, Mahe, Konkan and Goa.
IMD’s Weather Forecast for Western and Central India:
The Met Department has also informed that there could be isolated extremely heavy rainfall from August 1 to August 3 in Madhya Maharashtra. Goa and Konkan will experience very heavy showers at isolated locations from July 31 to August 3. Similar weather conditions will likely prevail in Chhattisgarh and West Madhya Pradesh from August 1 to August 3. East Madhya Pradesh will receive it from July 31 to August 3. Additionally, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Gujarat regions will get isolated heavy rainfall from July 31 to August 3. Kutch and Saurashtra will experience it on July 31 and Marathwada on August 3.

Warning of isolated heavy rainfall for Northwest India
A warning for isolated very heavy rainfall is predicted for West Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana from July 31st to August 1. Uttarakhand may get it from July 30 to August 1 whereas Himachal Pradesh and Jammu-Kashmir will get it on August 1. Additional areas like East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are likely to experience isolated heavy wet spells from July 31 to August 3. East Uttar Pradesh will get it from July 31 and will continue till August 1. Furthermore, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, and Chandigarh might get it from July 31 to August 2.
Extremely heavy downpour alerts for Southern, East & Northeastern India
Coastal and South Interior Karnataka is anticipated to receive isolated extremely heavy precipitation on July 31 and August 1. The Weather Department has also notified that there will be heavy rainfall in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Mahe, and Kerala on July 31 and August 1. North Interior Karnataka is likely to witness the same weather on August 2. The Northeastern regions of India will get very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Odisha, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura from July 31 to August 1. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to happen in Manipur, Odisha, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam, and Meghalaya from July 31 to August 2. Likewise, Sikkim along with Sub-Himalayan is expected to get it from July 31 to August 3.
