Weather forecast and IMD warning: Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan are also expected to receive rainfall during the next five days.

New Delhi: Several states including Gujarat and Maharashtra are likely to receive heavy rainfall for the next few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. The weather officer has also issued “yellow” alert for Delhi for the next two days. The IMD has forecast moderate rainfall in the national capital for Wednesday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover around 34 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

“Isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely to continue over Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra during next 2 days and heavy to very heavy rainfall thereafter. Rainfall activity is likely to increase over Indo-Gangetic plains during next 2 days,” the IMD said in its latest bulletin.

Light thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places over Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Nagpur and Yavatmal and at isolated places over Amravati district of Vidarbha.

Several parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi-NCR have been receiving rainfall for the past few days. Incessant rain has left several areas waterlogged in these states and also led to traffic chaos, disrupting normal life.

The IMD has forecast rainfall in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Jharkhand during the next five days

“Isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra on 24th. Very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Odisha during 24th-26th; Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat during 25th-27th; West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh on 24th; East Madhya Pradesh on 24th and Kerala and Mahe on 25th July. Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated/some places over Odisha, Kerala and Mahe, Karnataka during 24th-27th; Jharkhand, Vidarbha on 24th; Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during 25th-27th July,” the weather office said.

Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan are also expected to receive rainfall during the next five days. Above normal temperatures with high humidity are also likely to prevail over Punjab and Haryana and Delhi during the next two days.

According to IMD, widespread light to moderate rainfall is also expected in northeast India during the next five days. “Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 24th; Assam and Meghalaya and
Nagaland, Manipur during 24th-25th July,” it said.
