WB Assembly LoP Suvendu Adhikari met Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata
The Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, met with the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata on Monday.
Adhikari, along with other Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MLAs, registered their protest with the Deputy High Commissioner against the anti-India, anti-Modi, and anti-Hindu slogans defaming the Hindu Sanjeevni mantra ‘Hare Krishna Hare Ram’ at a rally in Bangladesh.
Taking to X, Adhikari said, “Today I met the Deputy High Commissioner at the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata, along with BJP MLAs of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Though we refrained from commenting on or interfering with the internal affairs of Bangladesh, especially regarding recent events, we strongly registered our protest against the anti-India slogans, the slogans raised against the Hon’ble Prime Minister of our country, and the anti-Hindu defamatory slogans.”
Adhikari also handed over video footage of the anti-India slogans as evidence to the Deputy High Commissioner and demanded immediate identification and action against such separatist elements that stoke tension between the two nations as per the laws of Bangladesh.
“We handed over video footage of anti-India slogans, slogans defaming the Hindu Sanjeevni mantra ‘Hare Krishna Hare Ram’, and other videos as evidence. We have demanded that such separatist elements stoking tensions between the two neighbouring countries should be immediately identified and action should be taken against them as per their laws,” he said.
“We reminded the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh that our country, India, is our Motherland and we will not tolerate insults intended to malign our motherland under any circumstances,” Adhikari further added.
Later, addressing the media outside the High Commission, Suvendu Adhikari said that the West Bengal police under the Mamata Banerjee government had prevented them from entering the High Commission despite having written permission for the meeting.
He further stated that they were living under jungle rule and would take proper action against the police
