RJP leader Tej Pratap Yadav shared several pictures of waterlogged areas outside his government residence in Patna following incessant rain in the city on Sunday.

“This view is not of any pond or lake but of my government residence at 26 M Strand Road. If this is the condition of the residences of MLAs, then just imagine what would be the condition of the common people,” he wrote in a post on X.

Along with Yadav’s residence, several nearby ministerial bungalows and other locations, including hospitals in Patna, were also left waterlogged after the heavy rain.

The city experienced 41.8 mm of rain, which inundated many upscale and low-lying areas, including Strand Road, Rajbansi Nagar, Boring Road, Bailey Road, and Patliputra Colony, causing significant disruption to vehicular movement.

The Bihar Assembly premises also witnessed waterlogging.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected various affected areas to assess the situation. He reviewed sump pump operations and directed officials to ensure that the city avoids waterlogging during heavy downpours.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitin Nabin called an emergency meeting after waterlogging reports and visuals surfaced on social media.

The minister criticised the lack of preparedness and response and ordered that all senior officers on leave return to duty immediately, with no leave permitted until September 30.

Meanwhile, the state government has instructed district administration officials to stay alert due to rising water levels in several rivers following continuous rainfall over the past two days.
