Was the crime scene in Kolkata case tampered with? Police’s clarification on viral photo of crowd – hindustannewshub.com
A new twist has emerged in the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. A viral photo has created controversy in this case. It is being claimed that the viral photo is of the place where the trainee doctor was raped and then murdered. It is seen in the photo that many people are present at this alleged crime spot. After this photo went viral, questions are being raised whether tampering with evidence is possible after the presence of so many people in the seminar hall.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Police DC (Central) Indira Mukherjee gave clarity on this controversy in a press briefing on Friday. She said that all the people seen in the photo were part of the investigation process and they were allowed to go to the spot in an authorized manner. Mukherjee said, “A particular news channel has shown videos and photos of the seminar hall, in which many people are seen standing and talking. At that time it was not told who these people are.”
Mukherjee dismissed the allegations and said, “It has been alleged that maybe some people were there who shouldn’t have been there. It has also been alleged that there was tampering of evidence. We have taken a picture from that video and have identified all the persons who were in the picture.” He said that this photo was taken after the inquiry process was completed and at that time the videographer, police commissioner, additional CP-1, woman police personnel, forensic officer and other identified persons like witness doctor, fingerprint expert and ACP of detective department were present in the hall.
Mukherjee said, “No one was allowed to enter the area who was not authorised. No one went there without being connected with the investigation process.” Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told the Supreme Court that the crime spot was changed before they took over the responsibility.
