According to IMD, a low-pressure area has turned into a deep depression leading to heavy rains in the city. Areas of Howrah, Salt Lake and Barrackpore also witnessed heavy downpour since morning.

Although flights are running on schedule, it is advisable to check with your airline before you leave for the airport.

Meanwhile, flight operations at the Kazi Nazrul Islam (KNI) airport in Andal, Paschim Bardhaman district, remained suspended for the second consecutive day on Saturday due to ongoing recovery efforts from waterlogging. The airport was shut down on Friday after heavy rainfall caused flooding in and around its premises, resulting in operational challenges.

IndiGo Airlines, the sole operator at the airport, announced the cancellation of all scheduled flights for Saturday via social media, citing continuous heavy rains in Durgapur. Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Ltd (BAPL), the airport’s developer, confirmed that all flights to and from the airport were cancelled for the day.
