New Delhi: A shocking incident of “gang rape” and brutal assault has shaken the community in the Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, leaving a young schoolgirl traumatized and fighting for her recovery. The horrific incident unfolded on a deserted stretch of the Jaunpur-Varanasi road, where the 12-year-old victim was found lying injured by the roadside.
According to police reports, the girl was abducted and assaulted by four young men travelling in a Bolero car. ASP City Brijesh Kumar said that the victim, a sixth-grade student, was on her way to school when she was abducted from a deserted area. On finding the girl on the roadside with a blade the people in the area alerted the police about the incident.
Responding quickly to the call, the police reached the spot without any delay and admitted the girl to the hospital without any delay. Her father, who was away in Jaunpur, received a call informing him about his daughter’s discovery near Danpur.
According to the victim’s father, on returning home from Jaunpur, he discovered that the girl had not come from school and started worrying about her whereabouts. He inquired at the school but the school officials said that his daughter did not come to school that day adding more to his worries.
The girl, upon arriving home after receiving medical attention, revealed a harrowing account of her ordeal. She stated that the assailants had threatened to kill her entire family if she revealed the incident. The victim’s body bore multiple blade marks, a testament to the brutality she endured.
Police have confirmed the assault and the possibility of gang rape, although a medical examination is still pending to confirm the latter. A case has been registered under relevant sections, and the police have launched a full-scale investigation to apprehend the perpetrators. The police have assured a swift and impartial investigation, vowing to bring the culprits to justice.
