UP school holidays announced from July 26th to August 2nd; Check districts and other details

In a recent directive, District Magistrate Arvind Mallapa has announced that all schools and colleges in Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, will be closed from July 26 to August 2, 2024. This decision is part of the preparations for the Kanwar Yatra 2024, which is expected to draw large crowds of devotees. The closure applies to all primary, upper primary, secondary, CBSE, ICSE board-recognized schools, madrasas, degree colleges, DIET, and technical institutes.Regional School Closures and Adjustments
The closure order extends to other districts as well. Schools and colleges in Saharanpur and Meerut will also remain closed from July 26 to August 2. In Hapur, District Magistrate Prerna Sharma stated, “From 26th July to 2nd August, all the govt and private schools have been given holiday. This is done to ensure that nobody faces any issues while travelling.”In addition to Uttar Pradesh, similar measures have been taken in Uttarakhand. In Haridwar, schools from class 1 to 12 and Anganwadi centers will be closed from July 27 to August 2 due to the Kanwar fair.

Adjustments in Other Regions
To mitigate disruptions, school schedules have been modified in cities like Varanasi, Indore, and Ujjain. During the yatra season, schools in these areas will observe weekly closures on Mondays and conduct classes on Sundays.

Traffic and Security Measures
The Kanwar Yatra, which runs from July 22 to August 6, 2024, has prompted enhanced police monitoring on major routes to ensure the safety of the large number of pilgrims. In Delhi, police have issued a traffic advisory related to the yatra. However, no school closures have been announced for the capital city.
