The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA) has made training and certification mandatory for registration of real estate agents.

This training and certification is compulsory for every individual/agency looking for registration as agent as well as for the agents already registered with RERA.

This training is spread over three days and will be organized in coordination with reputed training institutes and universities.

To begin with, UP RERA is inviting online applications from the agents of Lucknow, Gautambudh Nagar, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Moradabad for enrollment in the training.

No individual or agency can obtain registration to work as real estate agent without successfully completing such training.

UP RERA has signed MOUs with reputed training institutes for organizing the training programme of agents and the agents who are successful in the examinations following the training will given certificates.“Most of the consumers buy the properties in real estate projects through agents. It is the duty of an agent to provide all the services to the consumers starting from booking to the registry of the units in time and with efficiency. Quite often, it is observed that agents are not properly equipped for this task work and lack desired skills, the consumers suffer because of the agents not guiding them properly, because of the agents giving them misleading information and making false promises,” UP RERA said in a statement.“Agents have been found indulging in misleading advertisement of projects and violating the directions of U.P. RERA, sometimes resulting from the lack of business ethics and professionalism in them,” it said.

UP RERA has been continuously working to ensure that no consumer suffers on account of any allurement or false promise by any agent or promoter. RERA wants that agents should inculcate proper work ethics, they should have sufficient knowledge of their work, sufficient knowledge of RERA Act, RERA Rules, other relevant laws and rules, orders and directions of U.P. RERA.

“There are about 7000 agents registered with U.P. RERA and that RERA has been closely monitoring the work and conduct of the agents. We have come across such instances where the home buyers have suffered because of the lack business ethics and professionalism in such agents,” said Sanjay Bhoosreddy, Chairman, U.P. RERA.

“We thought that with a good short-duration training and orientation course, their skills can be suitably upgraded. Such trainings will benefit the agents as well as other stake holders like the allottees and the promoters. The new arrangement is also intended to ensure that the people with tainted antecedents are not able to enter the sector and cast their shadows on the market. U.P. RERA will continue working to enhance the security of the investment of the home buyers and infuse right type of investment mood in the real estate sector,” he said.
