KOHIMA, AUGUST 7 (MExN): The Nagaland girls team defeated Air Force School 2-0 to register three points at the 63rd edition of the Subroto Cup 2024 U-17 junior girls category at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi on Wednesday.
The Nagaland team is represented by Government High School Mereima. The second league match saw Xangyoa Konyak scoring the first goal in the 20th minutes, while an own goal was scored by Air Force in the second half to register a win for Nagaland team, a press release issued by Nagaland team coach Bijim Konyak informed.
Nagaland, with the win has four points and a match remaining against Sainik school on August 8. Earlier, the Nagaland team secured a goalless draw against Home Mission School 1 Mizo BN NCC Aizawl in the first match.
It maybe be mentioned the group winners will only qualify for the knockout stages. The Nagaland team is in Pool-G with NCC, Sainik School, and Air Force School.
A total of 34 teams are participating, divided into eight groups, including teams from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, competing in the junior girls category. The group winners will qualify for the knockout stages.
The team coach for Nagaland is led by N Bijim Konyak and the team manager is William Koso. The players include Lhuvekulu, Rokothono, Kekhriekuono, Xangyoa Konyak, Khuloik Eviphenuo Semou, Khrieletuono, Mhalo, Peteneinuo Khoubve, Leye, Sangki N, Medovinuo, Kekhrieseno, Medozhano Tsureishe, and Nounevino.
