A four-member team clinched India’s best ever performance at the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics, winning a silver medal and two bronze medals apart from an ‘honourable mention’ at the event held in The Netherlands.
Aanya Goyal won the Silver, while Neha Sane from Pune and Neha Singirikonda of Hyderabad won Bronze. Neha Sane’s sister Manasi Sane received the honourable mention.
The Informatics Olympiad is the most prestigious programming contest in which over 90 countries participate each year. Each country sends a team of its best coders who are selected after an year-long selection process.
The European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) is an international competition for young women interested in Computer Science. It is similar in style to the International Olympiad in Informatics and is held annually by a different country each year.
The first edition was hosted by Switzerland in June 2021. The European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics 2024 took place from July 21 to 27 in Veldhoven, The Netherlands.
India’s incredible performance at the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics follows the country’s 4th position in its best-ever performance in the International Maths Olympiad.
“Our contingent has brought home 4 Golds and one Silver Medal. This feat will inspire several other youngsters and help make mathematics even more popular,” PM Narendra Modi had posted on X.
