Bhubaneswar: An online trader from Bhubaneswar has gone missing since Wednesday. After his car found being parked at Trishulia Bridge in Cuttack, the businessman is suspected to have committed suicide by jumping off the bridge into Kathajodi River.

On a tip-off, the Fire Department launched a rescue operation for the businessman identified as Tushar Bhatt, a resident of Gujarat.

According to sources, Tushar was residing with his wife, Elina Bhatt, near the KIIT area in Bhubaneswar. Elina filed a missing complaint at the Barang Police Station. Tushar previously worked at a bank before venturing into online stock market trading. After initially earning significant profits, he quit his bank job to focus on trading full-time. However, he subsequently incurred substantial losses, leading to mental stress and depression.

According to his wife, Tushar left their home around 2 pm on Wednesday. Following her complaint, the Barang police initiated a search operation to locate him, but were unable to determine his whereabouts.

However, on Wednesday evening, locals reported a car parked for an extended period near Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Setu at Trisulia, between Barang and Cuttack.

The police recovered the locked car and took it to the station for investigation. The complainant, Tushar’s wife, identified the car and shoes as belonging to her husband.

It is pertinent to mention that a lady teacher from Cuttack’s Nua Bazaar had allegedly jumped off the bridge after parking her scooter on the bridge. Search operation by the Fire Brigade department, however, failed to find out her body despite continuous search operation.
