32-Km Road to connect IGI Aiptort with Jewar Airport, says Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi: In a major connectivity boost, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, on May 18, announced that the government is planning to construct a 32-kilometer-long road connecting Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi to Jewar Airport in Gautam Buddh Nagar district.
The road will also be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The project is estimated to cost Rs 3,000 Crore and is expected to be completed by June 2025.
“Our upcoming projects include connectivity between Indira Gandhi International Airport to Jewar Airport and also to Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. This road will be 32 kilometres in length worth Rs 3,000 crores. This project will be completed by June 2025,”Union Minister Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said.
This six-lane wide road will also help to decongest the existing roads leading to Delhi Airport. The road will have a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour.
The proposed road is part of the government’s plan to develop the Jewar Airport as a major international airport. The Noida Internation Airport aka Jewar Airport is expected to become operational by 2024. It will be the second international airport in Delhi-NCR after IGIA.
The new road will also provide a major boost to the development of the Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Several industries are established in the district which make it a major economic hub of Uttar Pradesh. The new is also likely to be a boon as it will help to improve connectivity and attract more investment to the district.”Our completed projects in Delhi include the Eastern and Western peripheral expressway, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, four-lane UP-Haryana border to Sonipat, flyover and underpass on Delhi-Gurgaon route, eight-lane corridor from Dhaula Kuan to Airport,” Union Minister Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari added.
