Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police confiscated seven SIM boxes from a residence in Mahadevnagar within the Laxmisagar police jurisdiction on Friday.

The seizure followed a raid by a special team, which acted on intelligence about the dubious activities of a young man who had rented the property.

Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh stated that the setup and SIM boxes appeared to be suspicious.

“The equipment could facilitate international and national calls without allowing the receiver to identify the call’s origin. The device is also implicated in various criminal activities, including terrorism. We have seized seven SIM boxes and more than 500 SIM cards,” Singh explained.

Singh added that a forensic team has been summoned, and the devices will be confiscated following standard procedures. An extensive investigation is imminent. Senior police officials have reported the detention of a young man, Raju Mandal, concerning this case.
