Imphal, Aug 27: In a series of joint operations, security forces have arrested a total of eleven cadres belonging to proscribed outfits in different locations. The operations led to the apprehension of six cadres of the banned organisation KYKL from Awang Potsangbam in the Imphal West District. The arrested individuals have been identified as Oinam Naocha Meitei (26), Tharoijam Nanao Meitei (25), Yumnam Amit Kumar (38), Sandam Roshan Meitei (24), Moirengthem Boy Singh (41), and Waribam Ibomcha Meitei (35).
During the operation, security forces recovered various items, including three gun-topping lenses (scopes), three live ammunition rounds, an empty tube-launching case, a four-wheeler vehicle, military fatigues, and other miscellaneous items.
In a follow-up action, the police conducted raids at different locations, seizing one single-barrel gun, one double-barrel (DBBL) gun, two live cartridges, three loaded magazines of AK-47 with 75 live rounds, five empty magazines of M-16 assault rifles, and 230 assorted live rounds, among other items.
In a separate incident on Monday, Manipur police arrested a cadre of the proscribed outfit UNLF (Koireng) from Heingang Makha Leikai in Imphal East. The individual, identified as Konsam Romesh Meitei (43), was reportedly involved in extortion activities targeting various brickfields in the region. Items seized from him included two mobile phones and a two-wheeler vehicle.
Additionally, four cadres of the KCP PWG were apprehended by Manipur Police from the Nambol area in Bishnupur District. The arrested individuals are Khundrakpam Rojit Singh (28), Thokchom Sornu Singh (23), Khoirakpam Abhinash Singh (21), and Khundrakpam (O) Victoria Devi (26). They were involved in extortion activities in and around the Nambol area. From their possession, a pistol with one live round was recovered.
These operations are part of ongoing efforts by the security forces to maintain peace and security in the region by cracking down on illegal activities carried out by proscribed outfits.
