Security at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city has been enhanced ahead of Independence Day. Airport authorities have urged passengers to arrive well in advance at the airport given the heightened security measures and the surge in passenger traffic during the long weekend.

Checks for both passengers and their luggage will be intensified which may result in longer security screening times. Additional personnel from Central Industrial Security Force and other agencies have also been deployed with the expected surge in traffic. The airport has warned that routine check-in processes might take longer.AM
