New Delhi: Grammy award-winning music composer Ricky Kej on Saturday (August 3, 2024) took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to slam Air India for downgrading him from business to economy class. The 42-year-old musician, in a series of tweets, also blasted the airline’s customer service for not providing him any explanation for the downgrade.
The unexpected incident took place when he reached the departure gate to board his flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru. Ricky not only faced issues when he asked questions about the refund but also found the behaviour of the Air India staff to be rude.
He asked the flag carrier airline of India to introspect and see if they were capable of running flight operations in the first place. Ricky threatened legal action if a 100 percent refund was not offered to him as he was not provided the service he paid for.
Wow.. 3rd time this is happening to me in one year. I booked and paid for a business class ticket on @airindia from Mumbai to Bengaluru. When I reach departure gate, the staff rudely tells me that I have been downgraded (for no reason) and they cannot give me a refund. What’s up…

He added that instead of offering immediate intimation and an apology for the discomfort, Air India was clueless and high-handed. Ricky alleged that the airline was behaving as if they were doing him a huge favor by just boarding him.
Air India responds to Ricky Kej
“How are these guys allowed to run an airline where people’s lives are at stake?” he questioned. Air India replied by saying that they had shared the resolution with him through a direct message. However, Ricky responded that Air India was lying on social media and no resolution was provided.
No resolution provided. @airindia lies on social media.
