Bhubaneswar: A vigilance court in Berhampur today convicted a retired Tax Collector of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) in Ganjam district in a corruption case and sentenced him to two years of rigorous imprisonment.

Jogi Behera, Tax Collector (Retired), Berhampur Municipal Corporation, was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance for misappropriating pension money by showing disbursement to the dead pensioners under OAP/ODP/NOAP.

Vigilance Special Judge, today convicted Behera and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and fine.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Jogi Behera, Tax Collector (Retired) following his conviction.
