RCB vs KKR Match Report: Kolkata Knight Riders, on Wednesday (April 26), beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 21 runs to end their 4-match losing streak. After scoring 200 for 5, the two-time IPL champions restricted RCB to 179 for 8.

Royal Challengers Bangalore started their pursuit of 201 in an aggressive manner. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis collected 30 runs from the first two overs before Suyash Sharma broke the stand by dismissing the latter for 17.

And while RCB managed to score at a healthy run rate in the powerplay, they lost two more wickets. In the fifth over, Suyash struck again to dismiss Shahbaz Ahmed before Varun Chakravarthy dismissed the in-form Glenn Maxwell for just 5 in the sixth over. RCB finished the powerplay on 58 for 3.

Kohli and Mahipal Lomror then stopped the rot and brought the chase back on track. At the halfway mark, RCB were on 96 for 3, needing 105 runs in the remaining ten overs. In the 11th over, Kohli also completed a well-deserved fifty off 33 balls.

But before the duo could bat RCB to a winning position, Chakravarthy struck to break the partnership that was worth 55 runs. He dismissed Lomror for 34. And just 2 runs after Lomror departed, the home side suffered a huge blow when Kohli was dismissed too thanks to a stunning catch by Venkatesh Iyer near the boundary.

The RCB superstar departed after scoring 54 off 37 balls with the help of 6 fours. Suyash Prabhudessai was the next to go after he was run out for 10, leaving RCB reeling at 137 for 6 in the 15th over.

And the match was all but over for RCB when Wanindu Hasaranga and Dinesh Karthik were dismissed by Andre Russell and Chakravarthy respectively in a space of 4 balls to reduce the home side to 154 for 8. RCB eventually finished their innings on 179 for 8.

Earlier in the game, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 200 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs after Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl first. Jason Roy started aggressively, hitting Mohammed Siraj for two fours in the very first over. His opening partner N Jagadeesan, on the other hand, also hit a few fours in the initial overs before struggling to play the big shots.

Roy then helped KKR finish the powerplay in a stunning fashion. After collecting 41 runs from the first five overs, he smashed Shahbaz Ahmed for 4 sixes in the 6th over to help KKR race away to 66 for no loss after the powerplay.

After the powerplay, RCB managed to put a brake on the run rate, conceding only 22 runs in the next four overs. In the 8th over, Roy completed his fifty off just 22 balls. Two overs later, Vijaykumar Vyshak put RCB in command by dismissing Jagadeesan and Roy. He first sent back Jagadeesan who scored 27 off 29 balls before dismissing Roy for 56.

Skipper Nitish Rana then smashed 48 off just 21 balls to give the innings some much-needed impetus. He and Venkatesh Iyer steadied the ship with aa 80-run stand before Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed both of them in the 18th over. In the last couple of overs, Rinku Singh and David Wiese’s cameos helped KKR touch the 200-run mark.
