Ramanagara District renamed Bengaluru South
The Cabinet has decided to change the name of Ramanagara district to ‘Bengaluru South’ during a Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday. According to HK Patil, the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, the decision was made based on the demand of the people in the region. He stated, “We have decided to rename Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South. It is based on the demand of the people there. The Revenue Department will start the process.”
In a press briefing following the Cabinet meeting, Patil clarified that only the name of the district will change, while everything else will remain the same. The proposal to rename Ramanagara district, which includes the taluks of Ramanagara, Magadi, Kanakapura, Channapatna, and Harohalli, as ‘Bengaluru South’ recently gained momentum when a delegation led by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar met with the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum to push for the change.
