Muscat – The initiative kicked off in New Delhi on Monday and is set to visit Mumbai, Chennai, and Bangalore until August 28, 2024.

The campaign is aimed at increasing the number of Indian tourists, who numbered over 600,000 in 2023. By showcasing Oman’s stunning landscapes, cultural heritage, and diverse tourism offerings—including luxury weddings, conferences, and exhibitions—the workshops seek to attract even more visitors from India.

Addressing a press conference at the launch ceremony in Delhi, H.E. Azzan bin Qasim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, emphasized the importance of these workshops. He noted that India is a major source of tourists for Oman, with over 600,000 Indian visitors recorded in 2023. This number is expected to grow in 2024, driven by targeted promotional efforts and enhanced travel experiences.

“The Sultanate of Oman is a multi-season destination known for its natural beauty and cultural heritage and attracts tourists from all categories. The focus is currently on attracting more travelers to experience the luxurious and diverse hospitality in the Sultanate of Oman,” stated His Excellency, pointing out that the current workshops are the result of the previous campaigns implemented by the Ministry.

“These efforts will be enhanced during the coming period with intensive promotional programs to enhance tourism movement to the Sultanate of Oman,” he added.

A total of 18 participants, including representatives from Omani tourism companies, hotel establishments, and key tourism partners in India, are involved in the workshops. The aim is to introduce Indian travel agencies and tour operators to the extensive tourism potential of Oman and strengthen ties between the two nations’ tourism sectors.

During the press conference in New Delhi, attended by prominent Indian media, officials highlighted the facilities provided by Oman to Indian tourists and discussed the growing number of Indian visitors. They also showcased ongoing and upcoming tourism projects and opportunities.

Additionally, a meeting between His Excellency Al Busaidi and the Omani Ambassador to India, alongside Indian investors, was held to discuss strategies for promoting Oman’s tourism sector and increasing visitor numbers from India.
