New Delhi: Out of total 82 kilometer corridor, 80 km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS (Namo Bharat) corridor has been constructed, officials aware of the matter said on Thursday. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is the nodal agency constructing the first RRTS in India. Out of the constructed 80 kms, 68 kilometers is elevated section and 12 kilometers is the underground section. Now, only a 2 km section in Meerut remains for viaduct construction, which is also nearing completion.

“The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor has constructed 80 km section out of the total 82 km. This includes 68 km of the 70 km elevated section and 12 km of the underground section. Presently, only a two km section in Meerut remains for viaduct construction, which is being rapidly completed. The construction of stations is also progressing swiftly,” added the officials.

The Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, when fully completed, will have 25 stations. At present, Namo Bharat trains are operational on a 34-kilometer corridor from Sahibabad to Modi Nagar North in Ghaziabad, and has eight stations. Once operational, Meerut South RRTS station will extend the corridor to 42 kilometers.

Meanwhile, the Meerut section will be 23 kilometers long and include four RRTS stations and nine Meerut metro stations. The seven-kilometer underground part includes Meerut Central, Bhainsali, and Begumpul, which are almost done.

Elevated stations in Meerut will include Meerut South (RRTS), Partapur, Rithani, Shatabdi Nagar, Brahmpuri, MES Colony, Daurli, Meerut North, and Modipuram. The Modipuram Depot station will be at ground level. Construction of the viaduct in Meerut is nearly complete, and track laying and overhead electrification are moving quickly.

As per sources, the entire 82-kilometer RRTS corridor is likely to be ready by 2025. The route will cut the travel time from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut to just an hour.
