Ahmedabad: An Ola passenger shared a heartwarming story about a female cab driver he met. Facebook user Ojas Desai shared his experience of riding with Archana Patil to the railway station.
Calling Archana a “remarkable lady”, Ojas said that he was happy to see her driving effortlessly. “Driving an Ola Cab perhaps isn’t so remarkable but, I was happy to see her driving so effortlessly and so well,” he said.

Ojas was impressed to see how Archana navigated through the indiscipline traffic of the city.
“After all, this was my first instance of encountering a female driver in Ola or Uber. In my city Surat, I have seen female auto drivers but, I never had used services of a female driver in Ola or Uber,” Ojas added.
He further shared Archana’s story. She started working with Ola after her husband could not continue his job due to health issues. Her husband was also an Ola driver.
Archana knew that one could earn well by working with Ola. However, she didn’t know how to ride a cycle. She learned driving and got a driving licence. “Those who are in Gujarat, they know that having a pakka licence is a very tough job. Driving tests are very tough,” Ojas added.
Archana works 13-14 hours and also works as a house help.

“I don’t wish to highlight this as an example of women power or as something as a proof of “changing society.” I met a spirited soul today who didn’t consider bad fortune as defeat,” Ojas said.
