Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Tables Vote-On-Account Of Rs 95,000 Cr; House Adjourned Till Aug 20 | Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Wednesday tabled a vote-on-account in the State Assembly to meet various government expenditures for August and September.

Majhi, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented the Odisha Appropriation (Vote-on-Account) Bill- 2024 for an amount of Rs 95,000 crore.

This is the second vote-on-account in the state in the 2024-25 fiscal.

The first vote-on-account was placed in February for the first four months of the same financial year in view of the upcoming elections to the Odisha Assembly.

The State government-led Mohan Charan Majhi introduced the full-fledged budget on July 25.  So, the government needs to make arrangements for funds for the months of August and September.

The Appropriation Bill for 2024-25 will be presented on September 10, CM Majhi said during a discussion on vote-on-account.

The vote-on-account includes 30 percent for revenue expenditure, 40 percent for capital expenditure, disaster management, social security, pension, judiciary and elections. This will make it possible to provide resources for the various schemes of the government. It will help continue emergency work, CM Majhi said.

With the passage of the vote-on-account, the first phase of the budget session came to an end as Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House till 10.30 am of August 20.
