New Tropical Disturbance Looming Along Texas Coast
September has always been during the most active two months of hurricane season for the state of Texas, and right on cue there is a tropical disturbance forming off the coast of the Lone Star State that at the very least could bring a lot of rain the the Gulf Coastal region that is still trying to dry out after Hurricane Beryl made landfall just after the 4th of July.

Thus far, only two hurricanes have made it ashore within the borders of Texas, and there is some debate about weather or not Alberto was still a category 1, or had downgraded to just a tropical storm. Either way, both Alberto and Beryl were major headaches much earlier in the season than we are accustomed to seeing in Texas.

All of this early activity put us clearly in step with the prediction that 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season could be more severe than average according to NOAA. Turns out the government website actually got it way wrong, surprise, surprise.
New Tropical Disturbance Looming Along Texas Coast
When it comes to severe weather, there is never any room to gloat over an exaggerated hot take that has not panned out because we should always count our blessings as severe weather can always be worse, and waking a sleeping giant like Mother Nature is never a battle anyone actually wins.
We’ll keep an eye on the sky and radar, and update you as the situation develops, but right now it looks like Houston could be in for at least a good bath this week.
