New-gen Kia Carnival spied ahead of 3 Oct launch – Car News
Besides the all-new Carnival, Kia will also launch the EV9 in India on October 3.
Kia will be launching not one but two new vehicles in India on October 3. It’ll be the first time that the EV9 will hit Indian ground ever since the flagship all-electric SUV made its global debut last year. The other model will be the Carnival which was discontinued from the market last year when the phase 2 of the BS6 emission norms kicked in April last year.
The luxury MPV will continue to be offered in India as a fully-imported CBU model. Test mules of the same have been spied on numerous occasions over the past year and a half. Ahead of its launch in just over a month’s time, the new-gen Carnival has spotted once again in its full glory. The latest spy shot of the flagship MPV has been clicked at the Delhi Airport
The Carnival sold previously in India was internationally the third-gen model which was introduced in early 2020. However, Kia never introduced the fourth-gen Carnival to India which made its global debut in late 2020. Therefore, the upcoming iteration of the Carnival is the facelifted fourth-gen model. It is based on the Kia KA4 concept which made its debut at last year’s Auto Expo.

New-gen Kia Carnival: Updated design
The latest iteration of the Carnival embodies Kia’s ‘Modern Boldness’ design concept, while still adhering to the brand’s overarching ‘Opposites United’ philosophy. Notably, the production model diverges from the KA4 concept in several key ways. The new Carnival boasts a more vertical front fascia, featuring a broad grille flanked by sleek L-shaped headlamps with integrated daytime running lights.
The grille itself is accentuated by fin-like inserts with chrome treatment, while the bumper incorporates a subtle air intake and a faux brushed aluminium skid plate for added visual depth. The side profile remains largely unchanged, save for the introduction of fresh alloy wheel designs inspired by Kia’s latest electric models, the EV5 and EV9.
At the rear, the Carnival features a distinctive inverted L-shaped LED taillamp arrangement, spanning the width of the tailgate. The reworked rear bumper combines matte black and chrome elements, creating a striking visual contrast.
New-gen Kia Carnival: Interiors & Features
Nestled within the new Kia Carnival’s refined interior lies a familiar twin-screen setup, comprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Conveniently situated below the central screen, intuitive controls govern the HVAC and stereo systems. The dual-tone dashboard is elegantly bisected by a vibrant yellow ambient light, adding a touch of warmth to the cabin.
The advanced smart infotainment system is capable of receiving over-the-air updates, ensuring seamless access to the latest features. In keeping with the Carnival’s legendary versatility, the vehicle offers a range of seating configurations – accommodating 4, 7, or 9 passengers, depending on the chosen variant. Select trims also feature indulgent massage seats for second-row occupants, further elevating the travel experience.

Additional amenities expected to be offered include an updated digital key, ambient lighting, front and rear dash cameras, a digital rearview mirror, and more. The 2024 Carnival benefits from an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, boasting features like forward and rear collision avoidance assist, blind spot collision-avoidance assist, rear parking assist, lane assist, etc. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with eight airbags and a 360-degree camera.
New-gen Kia Carnival: Expected powertrain specs
Although internationally Kia offers multiple powertrains for the Carnival, in India, the MPV is most likely to be offered the same 2.2-litre diesel engine as its predecessor. This motor churns out 197 bhp and 440 Nm of peak torque while being mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. We expect the new Kia Carnival to be priced starting around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
