Nagercoil-Vande Bharat a boon for Kerala commuters; Now reach Chennai from TVM in 9 hours
Thiruvananthapuram: The Chennai Central-Nagarcoil Vande Bharat Special train is a boon for Kerala commuters also as it will take just 9 hours to reach Chennai from Thiruvananthapuram. Other trains, including superfast, take 14 to 17 hours via Palakkad and Nagercoil to land up at Chennai from the capital.
Dr MGR Vande Bharat (No. 06067), started service on Saturday, departs from Chennai Central Station at 5.20 am and reaches Nagercoil at 1.50 pm. On the return journey, train (No. 06068) departs from Nagercoil at 2.20 pm and reaches Chennai at 9 pm. The train has stops at Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Kovilpatti and Tirunelveli.

Bengaluru-Kanyakumari Express leaves Thiruvananthapuram at 12.05 pm and reaches Nagercoil at 1.50 pm. From there one can take the Vande Bharat, which departs at 2.20 pm, and reach Chennai by 9 pm the same night itself.
There are two more trains from Thiruvananthapuram to catch Vande Bharat from Nagercoil. Pune-Kanyakumari Express departing at 9.10 am and Thiruvananthapuram-Tiruchirappalli Intercity Express departing at 11.35 am from the capital will reach Nagercoil at 12.38 pm.
However, there are no train services to Thiruvananthapuram when the Vande Bharat reaches Nagercoil from Chennai. Vivek Express and passenger trains only start later in the evening.
