Nagaland ready for Junior (Boys) National Football C’ship

Nagaland’s team will be leaving the state this Saturday for Junior (Boys) National Football Championship 2024, scheduled at Nagaon, Assam.
19 players along 4 officials (Coach- Khwetelhi Thopi, Assistant Coach- Kechi Kulimbe, Team Manager- Azho Sophie and Physio- Zakielatuo Seletsu) will leave the state for the meet on July 27.
We are physically and mentality prepared for the meet, said Thopi while talking to media persons.
Sophie informed that the state will play its first match against Lakshadweep on July 30 and second match against Haryana on August 1.
The state will face Manipur and Andaman & Nicobar Islands in its 3th and 4th Match respectively.
Interacting with the players at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima, Nagaland’s Youth Resources & Sports secretary Anthony Ngullie told the players to be mentally strong and maintain team spirit.
“You are going to represent Nagaland state. Play well and bring a good name to our state,” he said.
Nagaland’s Youth Resources & Sports director Kethosituo Sekhose also encouraged the state team to give their best in this upcoming national football meet.
“We have to perform well,” he said and asked them to maintain discipline.
He also told the players that the state government under the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has been putting due importance towards sports infrastructure in the state
Nagaland Football Association (NFA) president and All India Football Federation (AIFF) executive member K. Neibou Sekhose also encouraged the players to give their best and bring laurel to the state.
