Nagaland MP urges union minister to enhance facilities at CVScAH Jalukie
Kohima, August 13 (MExN): Nagaland’s lone member of parliament to the Lok Sabha, S Supongmeren Jamir, has urged the Union Minister for Animal Husbandry, Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, to enhance the facilities at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (CVScAH) in Jalukie.
In the letter, the MP expressed appreciation for the establishment of CVScAH, noting that it has successfully graduated three batches of students from across the North Eastern States, except Assam. However, he highlighted the need for further enhancement to better support the growing demands of animal husbandry in the region.
Among other requests, Supongmeren asked Singh to upgrade the courses at the institute to include postgraduate and PhD degrees.
He also called for the provision of laboratory facilities for students pursuing higher studies, as well as the recruitment of faculty members from various disciplines for research and teaching, along with additional supporting staff.
The MP also requested the upgrading of infrastructure facilities for various disciplines and appealed to the Minister to consider these issues as a ‘special case.’
In the letter, Supongmeren highlighted the significance of domestic animal rearing in Nagaland’s culture and traditions. Traditionally viewed as a marker of wealth, this practice is increasingly becoming a key source of income due to societal advancements, he added.
He implied that the establishment of CVScAH Jalukie aligns with such practice and serves an evolving need.
