Nagaland joins Shiksha Saptah, marks four years of NEP 2020

Observing Shiksha Saptah (Education Week) along with the rest of the educational institutions across the state, the Govt. Middle School (GMS), New Minister’s Hill Kohima, today marked Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN) Day at the school premises.

Temsunaro Aier, State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha & State Nodal Officer Shiksha Saptah Nagaland along with officials from the Department of School Education, SCERT and Samagra Shiksha interacted with the students of GMS and commended the Shiksha Saptah activities there.

This school conducted various activities including storytelling, singing of NIPUN Bharat theme song and display of NIPUN learning goals. The participants were administered NIPUN Bharat Mission pledge.

The students pledged to join hands to ensure a conducive learning environment enabling all children to achieve foundational skills.

“We pledge to make the school a place of joyful and experiential learning where children can use their language freely, ask questions freely, play freely, and where every child is respected,” the pledged and to make the school as well as the home, a place for developing lifelong skills for reading with comprehension, writing with purpose and understanding numeracy, in every child that they can apply in their everyday life situations.

They students have also taken pledge to strive to make education meaningful and joyful “for each child of our country and make every child NIPUN.”

Shiksha Saptah (Education Week) is being held across of the country starting from July 22 to commemorate the 4th anniversary of New Education Policy (NEP) 2024 on July 29.

The event observation is scheduled on thematic activities. The first day of the event on 22nd July witnessed massive participation schools from across the state including Government, Central and Private schools in conducting various activities including organization of Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) Mela/ exhibition in creating awareness on the linkage of TLMs with learning goals in different stages of Education.

A total number of 2315 schools, 15,874 teachers, 258683 students participated on the first day with 6720 demonstrations.

July 22 marked the event on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy to create awareness about NIPUN Bharat Mission objectives to achieve Universal Foundational Literacy & Numeracy for ages 3-8 years by 2026-27.

The event in the State shall continue till July 27, culminating observation of Mission LiFE in collaboration with community leaders and Tithi Bhojan for the students.

Sports Day, Cultural Day shall be observed in all the schools during this period. The department is monitoring the detailed school participation on daily basis for daily update in the Ministry of Education google tracker.

NIPUN Bharat Mission aims to achieve Universal Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN) for all children of ages 3- 8 years by 2026-27 therefore, schools having Foundational Stage Education may organize various activities under FLN.
