Kohima, Aug 9: The Dimapur District Task Force on Single Use Plastic has resolved to form a sub-committee for regular monitoring of the ban on single-use plastic. This decision was made during a meeting with all stakeholders, chaired by ADC Dimapur, Mhalo Humtsoe.

The task force has decided to impose penalties on defaulters, with a fine of ₹10,000 for the first offense and ₹20,000 for the second offense. An official order detailing the complete ban on single-use plastics, including fines and penalties, will be notified soon.

Directives will also be issued to churches, event organizers, and hotel or venue owners to prohibit single-use plastics on their premises, in an effort to reduce demand.

Additionally, the SUP Public Grievances App “SUP-CPCB” has been developed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), allowing citizens to lodge complaints if they see any banned items.

The task force is taking a proactive approach to enforcing the ban on single-use plastics and promoting a cleaner environment in Dimapur.
