Kohima, August 5 (MExN): For the first time, the Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) is partnering with athletics associations from eight districts—Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Noklak, Peren, Shamator, and Wokha—to observe the 3rd National Javelin Day on August 7.

This event, celebrated nationwide, honors the historic achievement of Neeraj Chopra, who won India’s first Olympic gold medal in athletics at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The NAA has announced that javelin throw competitions will be held across the eight districts for boys and girls in the U-12, U-14, and U-16 age groups. The association has provided javelins, kids’ javelins, and awards for the top three winners in each age category to ensure the successful organization of these events.

The Nagaland Athletics Association encourages children within the specified age groups to participate in the competitions and join in this national celebration of athletic excellence.
