Mumbai: A student of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai was found dead at his apartment, police said. The boy was identified as Anurag Jaiswal, who was enrolled in the Human Resources programme in the college.

Police suspect ragging

The police said that they suspect that the boy died after being ragged by some of his seniors. This however has not been confirmed so far. His flatmates reportedly found him lying unconscious on Saturday morning. He was lying on his bed.

When he did not respond to his friends, on Saturday morning, they sensed that something was wrong. They then rushed him to the hospital, said a report in NDTV. The doctors there declared the young man dead.

The boy hailing from Lucknow had gone out partying with his friends on Friday night, police said. The party was at Vashi and there were at least 150 other students present at the get together. The police have questioned the boy’s friends and also his flatmates, but so far they have not got any clue as to what exactly caused the death. An accidental death report has been filed in the matter.

Police said that they have still not sent the body of the boy for post mortem, on a request by the family. The boy hailed from Lucknow and his family members have been informed about the death. They are currently on their way to Mumbai and have requested the cops to conduct a post mortem only after they are in the city.
