Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the district administration to work closely with the National Highway Authority (NHA) to address threats posed by potholes on the Mumbai-Goa and Mumbai-Nashik highways.

Under his leadership, CM Shinde held a meeting at the Sahyadri Guest House to discuss the state of the Mumbai-Goa and Mumbai-Nashik highways. Attendees included MLAs Kishor Darade and Bharat Gogavale, along with Ministers of Sports and Youth Welfare Sanjay Bansode and Education Deepak Kesarkar.

Chief Minister Shinde talked about the importance of safe and comfortable travel for the thousands of pilgrims visiting Konkan during the Ganesh festival. He has ordered that the service roads and bypasses on both highways be strengthened and made free of potholes. He directed that this should be done before the Ganesh holiday.

Further, he directed officials to erect security barriers on the Parshuram Ghat stretch of the Mumbai-Pune expressway and to install reflective road signs. Medical stations and car repair shops will be positioned every 10 kilometres for the convenience of devotees.

He also ordered the removal of construction waste from finished road segments. The police administration in Mangaon and Indapur will take extra precautions to lessen traffic congestion during the festival.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the state of the Mumbai-Nashik highway. He directed officials to manage parking spaces for overloaded vehicles parked on the shoulders of local roads in the Bhiwandi district. The local government and the NHAI will together determine the best sites for this purpose.

Chief Minister Shinde promised that every project would be completed quickly and effectively. Senior Thane district officials will be responsible for overseeing these tasks.
