Mukesh and Nita Ambani, India’s wealthiest couple, cherish simple, authentic Indian cuisine. Here is a list of their favourite street foods.

Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, India’s wealthiest couple, have a deep appreciation for simple, authentic Indian cuisine, particularly from a modest eatery in Mumbai. Swati Snacks, a quick-service restaurant known for its authentic Gujarati food, holds a special place in their hearts. This restaurant has been a favorite of the Ambani family for three generations.

Asha Jhaveri, the owner of Swati Snacks, mentions in her autobiography, “We are three generations of the Ambani family who cannot live without ordering from Swati Snacks every week.” Founded in 1963 by Jhaveri’s mother, Minakshi, Swati Snacks has grown from a single outlet to four locations—two in Mumbai and two in Ahmedabad—along with a cloud kitchen. The menu features traditional recipes, including Mukesh Ambani’s favorites like sev puri, paani puri, and dahi batata puri.

Jhaveri fondly recalls the Ambani couple’s frequent visits to the restaurant. “The Ambani couple – Mukesh and his wife Nita – used to visit our joint quite frequently, and would often stand in the queue to get in, but now they mostly order takeaways. We recognize their staff from their uniform when they come in to pick up the food,” she said, according to the South China Morning Post.

Nita Ambani, chairperson of the Reliance Foundation and wife of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, was recently seen visiting a popular chaat shop in Varanasi. During her visit, she indulged in local delicacies and shared that her husband would have enjoyed the experience. In Varanasi for a spiritual trip ahead of her younger son Anant Ambani’s wedding, Nita Ambani offered prayers at the renowned Kashi Vishwanath temple. She also presented Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding invitation at the feet of Lord Shiva.

Dressed in a stunning pink saree, Nita Ambani attended the Ganga Aarti ceremony. Following her prayers at the temple, she addressed the media, explaining the reason for her visit to Kashi Vishwanath. As per ANI, she said, “I offered prayers to Lord Shiva. I am feeling very blessed. Today I came here with the invitation for the wedding of Anant and Radhika to offer it to the Almighty. I came here after 10 years. I am happy to see the development here.”

Nita Ambani’s visit to the Varanasi chaat shop and her remarks about Mukesh’s love for street food highlight the couple’s appreciation for simple, authentic Indian cuisine. Despite their immense wealth, the Ambanis cherish the flavors and traditions of their homeland, making Swati Snacks an integral part of their culinary journey.
