Monsoon update: IMD warns of heavy rainfall in THESE regions; cyclonic circulation present over north Bay of Bengal – India News

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest press release predicted very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over West Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh today.

Several regions in the country have been battling heavy downpour, leading to landslides, flood and waterlogging. 

Heavy rainfall likely in south Bengal

As per the IMD, several south Bengal districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall till August 26 due to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over north Bay of Bengal.

The weather office has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall for the districts of South and North 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Bankura, Hooghly, Birbhum, and East and West Bardhaman. Additionally, heavy rain is expected in other districts of South Bengal, including Kolkata.

Extremely heavy rainfall in Maharashtra, Gujarat

As per the IMD, isolated incidents of extremely heavy rainfall are very likely over Madhya Maharashtra and the Gujarat region today and tomorrow. Similar conditions can prevail over West Madhya Pradesh today and Saurashtra and Kutch from August 25-27. 

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on August 27, West Bengal & Sikkim on August 26, Bihar on August 26 and 27, Jharkhand from August 25 to 27, and Odisha on August 26. 

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh is expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall on August 28, 29, and 30, while Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to see heavy rain throughout the entire week.
