MoHT’s promotional campaign in India targets weddings

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MoHT) has launched the first mobile promotional workshops in the Indian capital, New Delhi, to introduce and promote the tourism components of the Sultanate of Oman.

The goal is to showcase Oman’s tourist attractions, its picturesque nature, and promote the unique and unforgettable experiences that make Oman a must-visit destination.

Additionally, the campaign aims to highlight various types of tourism such as weddings, events, conferences and exhibitions, as well as provide information on the latest developments in Oman’s tourism sector and upcoming offers to make exploring the Sultanate of Oman more appealing.

These promotional workshops will take place in four major cities in India (New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore) from August 20 to 28, with the participation of 18 representatives from tourism companies and hotel establishments, along with key partners in the Indian tourism sector including travel agencies and tour operators.

Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, stated that the workshops in New Delhi and other Indian cities aim to introduce major Indian tourism companies to Oman’s tourism capabilities and strengthen relations hips between tourism operators in Oman and India. India is a significant source of tourism to Oman, with over 600,000 visitors in 2023, a number expected to rise in 2024.

The Sultanate of Oman is renowned for its natural beauty and cultural heritage, attracting tourists from all over the world. The focus now is on attracting more travellers to experience the luxurious hospitality in Oman.

The choice of the four Indian cities for the promotional workshops follows the success of previous campaigns in targeted tourism markets worldwide. Efforts will continue to enhance tourism to Oman through intensive promotional programmes.

Discussions during the promotional campaign included facilities for Indian visitors in Oman, growth in Indian tourists visiting Oman, tourism projects, and opportunities available in the sector. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is working to strengthen Oman’s position in tourism markets through participation in prominent tourism events globally.

Said al Hadhrami, Regional Director of Marketing and Sales at the Atana Hotels Group, emphasised the importance of the ministry’s efforts in enhancing the travel market and tourism sector, particularly focusing on conference and wedding tourism to attract Indian tourists.
