MNRE Forms Technical Committee to Frame Norms for Solar Powered Cold Storage – Asia Pacific | Energetica India Magazine
To promote the growth of solar-powered cold storage in the country, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced the creation of a special panel. This new technical committee will review and refine the draft specifications for solar-powered cold storage.
“A Technical Committee has been constituted under the Chairmanship of Dr. A.K Tripathi, Advisor MNRE to review the draft specifications of Solar Cold Storage prepared, along with the comments of the stakeholders received and to finalize the specifications and guideline for the Solar Cold Storage,” informed MNRE through a notification.
According to the notification, Dr. A.K. Tripathi, Advisor to the MNRE, has been appointed as the Chairman of the committee. Other members of the panel include Dr. O.S. Sastry, Former Director General of the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Prof. Mahendra Kumar Mohanty from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar, Prof. G. Venkatarathnam from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Dr. Shiva Reddy, Director or Vikrant Yadav, Dy. Director, NISE and a representative from the National Centre for Cold-chain Development (NCCD). Dr Anil Kumar, Scientist-E from the R&D division of MNRE has been appointed as the Convener of the committee.
The committee has been tasked with reviewing the draft specifications of solar cold storage prepared. The committee will also consider the comments of the stakeholders received, finalise the specifications and prepare guidelines for the solar cold storage which will be notified by MNRE. The committee will also finalise the testing protocols prepared by NISE.
