Aizawl, Aug 28: Mizoram Chief Minister has turned down a request by the Khumi National Democratic Party (KNDP), a foreign rebel group, to set up a training camp for its armed wing, the Khumi National Army (KNA), in the state.

According to sources, the KNDP had sought permission to build a training centre in Lawngtlai district, which shares borders with Bangladesh and Myanmar. However, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) declined the request, stating that such decisions are not within the purview of the state government.

Lalmuanpuia Punte, Political Adviser to the Chief Minister, confirmed that a letter was received from the KNDP seeking advice and support for the construction of the training centre. However, the request was rejected, citing that it was not feasible for the state government to grant permission for such activities.
