Meghalaya’s miners and exporters support upcoming public hearing on scientific coal mining
Nongstoiñ, Aug 26: The Meghalaya Mineral Land Owners Lease Holders and Exporters Forum has expressed its full support for the upcoming public hearing to discuss the resumption of scientific coal mining in the state.
The Forum, led by its president Hamarles Thabah and secretary Sharailang Warjri, welcomed the government’s initiative and commended Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and state officials for their efforts to revitalize the coal industry.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Forum emphasized the significant hardships faced by coal traders, contractors, and local communities due to the NGT ban imposed on coal mining in 2014. They expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and the responsible officials for their tireless work to address the challenges posed by the ban.

The Forum urged its members and the people of West and South West Khasi Hills District to participate actively in the public hearing scheduled for August 27 at Sdad Dkhar in West Khasi Hills District.
