Meghalaya suspends border haats’ operations on Bangladesh border
Shillong, Aug 12: The Meghalaya government has suspended operations of all border haats along the international border with Bangladesh due to the ongoing unrest in that country.
In pursuance to an order issued by the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Commerce and Industries Department, the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued on August 8, 2024 has informed that all Border Haats in East Khasi Hills District are suspended for operations with immediate effect until further orders.

The state government had imposed curfew along the international border with Bangladesh from 6 pm to 6 am daily until further notice.
