Meghalaya Govt searches for new candidate for MSCPCR chairperson
SHILLONG, AUG 13: Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday informed that the department will recommend a fresh name for appointment of new chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) within 10 days.
“Within 10 days, we will resolve this (issue). We will make the recommendation and take it to the cabinet for its final approval,” Lyngdoh told reporters.
“We have identified five names. So within the next 10 days we will be able to come to a final decision,” he added.

On the decision to come up with fresh names, the minister said that this was because a person from Garo Hills, whose name has been recommended for appointment as MSCPCR chairperson, has declined the offer.
“In fact, we have already identified one woman but she has declined since she is not interested,” he stated.
