Mecievi Khieya from Nagaland has officially joined Thailand Division 3 powerhouse Thonburi United FC as their new player.
He joined the club’s senior squad a few days ago and represented Thonburi United in two friendly matches already, according to an update from Sports Club Nagaland Thonburi United on Friday.
“We would like to wish @mecievi_khieya7 and @thonburi.united all the very best for this upcoming season. We hope his performances with Thonburi United will create more opportunities for our young Naga athletes in the future,” the club posted.
23-year-old Mecievi Khieya, hailing from Jakhama, Kohima, earned a spot on the roster of Thonburi United FC after a three-day trial at the Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) Kohima, earlier in April this year.
The try-outs were organized by Thonburi United FC under the initiative of the Department of Youth Resources and Sports in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and Progressive Sports Consultant.
Khieya’s skills as a winger secured his selection and earned him a spot in the club’s roster.
Thonburi United FC is a professional soccer team based in Thailand. The team was founded in 2010 and is currently playing in the Thai League 3 Bangkok metropolitan region.
