Manipur: Wife Of former MLA killed In bomb Attack At residence In Kangpokpi; Investigation Underway

Imphal, Aug 12: A tragic bomb attack occurred at the residence of former Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip in Kangpokpi district, Manipur, on Sunday. The explosion resulted in severe injuries to Haokip’s wife, Charubala Haokip, who later died in the hospital.

Both Yamthong Haokip and their daughter were unharmed in the incident. Authorities are actively investigating the motive behind the attack.

The Manipur Police issued a statement clarifying that initial evidence suggests Charubala Haokip was injured by an explosion while burning waste materials in the compound of a recently vacated neighboring house.

The investigation is ongoing, with the source of the explosion pending confirmation from forensic reports.

The statement also requested the public to avoid spreading rumors and linking the incident to recent communal violence, noting that Charubala Haokip had been residing in Ekou Mulam for the past year and a half.
