Manipur Police Arrests 3 Cadres Of Proscribed Outfits, Recovers Arms And Ammunition
Manipur Police have arrested one cadre of the proscribed outfit KCP (Taibangnganba) in Elangkhanpokpi, Kakching District. The arrested individual, identified as 29-year-old Koijam Uperjit Singh, was involved in extortion activities in the Kakching, Imphal West, and Thoubal areas.
In a separate operation, security forces apprehended two cadres of the banned outfit KYKL at Wangjing Heirok crossing in Thoubal District. The arrested individuals are Narengbam Gobin Sing, aged 37, and Moirangmayum Romantic, also known as Prem, aged 27. Authorities recovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine, an SMG carbine with a magazine, a mobile phone with a SIM card, five live ammunition rounds, and a four-wheeler vehicle from Sangaiyumpham, Thoubal District.
In a statement by Manipur Police Control Room, Manipur Police launched a major operation in the areas of Langoljam Kangjeibung, Kamong, Leimaram, Irengbam, and Heinoubok in Bishnupur District following the arrest of four KCP (PWG) cadres on Monday. This led to the discovery of a KCP (PWG) shelter in Kamong, where six four-wheeler vehicles and various military items, including combat dress, boots, belts, sleeping bags, blankets, bulletproof vests, helmets, cooking utensils, and dishes, were seized, the statement said.
The search to locate and apprehend other miscreants in the area is ongoing. Additionally, security forces recovered six live ammunition rounds and eight spent casings from Sangaiyumpham, Thoubal District, during a separate search operation.
